"Twomey Triumphs in Amsterdam second time round"

billytwomeyamsterdam1.jpgbilly_twomey_prize_giving.jpg

Billy Twomey triumphed over the weekend when winning the Grand Prix in Amsterdam, making this a back to back double for Billy in consecutive years in Amsterdam. Riding Mrs. Sue Davies's brilliant stallion Je Taime Flamenco, who is returning from his winter break, Billy was one of six to reach the jump off which included some of the world best riders.

Billy commented:
"Je T'aime Flamenco jumped brilliantly today and is really on form and showed this today with the way he jumped.
I really was thinking it would be a few more weeks before he was ready to win a major class but he proved differently.

I am really excited to see what his young stock are like as he covered a lot of mares last year in Great Britain and Europe and its making it look like a cheap investment for people who chose to use him last year as a young stallion.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sue and Eddie Davis for buying such great horses over the years, their long term patience and support that makes such a difference.

I would also like to thank my sponsors and supporters for their support throughout the year."

Billy Twomey triumphed in the CSIO 5 star Grand prix in St. Gallen, Switzerland on Sunday, riding Sue and Ed Davies's brilliant young stallion Je Taime Flamenco.
With €200,000 on offer, only three riders were clear going into the jump off, although 12 riders were taken through.
The three contenders where Billy for Ireland, Marcus Ehning for Germany and Richard Spooner for the USA.
Billy was the only rider to go clear in the jump off guaranteeing him the €61,000 winners prize.
A delighted Billy stated  "Je Taime has been going brilliantly all year with his grand prix wins in Belfast, Amsterdam and his consistent results in the Meydan Nations Cup Series. I am delighted for his owners, Sue and Ed Davies who have supported me for many years.
"My main focus for Je Taime Flamenco this year, is selection for the Europeans at Windsor in August, so I don't want to over jump him before then. I am lucky to have such strength and depth in my string of horses for this season, with the addition of the Kennedy family's Kec Maximum Joe."
The Pewit team have a weekend at home this weekend, competing the young horses at local shows.
